Eddie Bauer’s North American Stores File for Bankruptcy

Eddie Bauer LLC, the operator of nearly 200 Eddie Bauer stores in the US and Canada, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in New Jersey. The filing puts its North American retail outlets at risk of closure, though manufacturing, wholesale, and e-commerce operations remain unaffected.

Eddie Bauer’s North American Stores Bankrupt?

Catalyst Brands, which manages Eddie Bauer’s retail licenses, cited declining sales, inflation, tariffs, and supply chain challenges as key pressures. The company listed liabilities between $1 billion and $10 billion against assets of $100–500 million. Eddie Bauer, founded in 1920 and famed for its goose-down jackets, has faced bankruptcy before in 2003 and 2009.
