Elderly Couple Detained in Melaka Over Alleged Cohabitation

An 81-year-old businessman and a 69-year-old woman were detained in Lubuk China, Melaka, on 3 November after being found together in a house without valid marriage documents. The late-night raid was conducted by local authorities, including an Imam, village head, police, and residents, before notifying the Melaka Islamic Religious Department (JAIM). 

Elderly Couple Detained in Melaka

The man had reportedly lost his wife just a month earlier and was frequently seen with the woman. Although villagers claimed they didn’t live together, both were present during the raid. The couple is now under investigation for alleged cohabitation under Section 53 of the Melaka Syariah Offences Enactment 1991.
