ALOR SETAR — A man in his 40s suffered burns to his face and chest after his house in Kampung Padang Gaong, Langkawi, was destroyed in a fire on Friday morning (March 13). The blaze, which damaged about 55% of the living room, also killed 27 of his 30 cats kept in cages inside the house.

Three cats were rescued. The victim sustained burns estimated at 30% and was taken to Sultanah Maliha Hospital for treatment. Firefighters extinguished the fire by 10.52am. The Langkawi Fire and Rescue Department confirmed the incident, with investigations into the cause ongoing.
