The number of employed persons in Malaysia rose by 0.2% to 16.72 million in October from 16.69 million in September 2024, according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM). The number of unemployed dropped by 0.7% to 551,400.
Employment Rises to 16.72 Million in October 2024
The unemployment rate remained at 3.2%, with a labour force participation rate of 70.5%. Employees made up 74.9% of the total employed, while own-account workers increased to 3.10 million. Youth unemployment (15-24 years) declined to 10.4%, while the rate for ages 15-30 remained at 6.3%.
