EPF Raises Basic Retirement Savings Benchmark to RM390,000

The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has raised the basic retirement savings benchmark to RM390,000 from RM240,000. The increase was revealed during the launch of the Retirement Income Adequacy (RIA) Framework and Belanjawanku 2024/2025.

EPF Raises Basic Retirement Savings Benchmark to RM390,000

The RIA Framework, set to be implemented in 2026, includes a three-tier savings system to guide comfortable retirement savings. Policy changes will take effect gradually from 2026, with assessments every three years starting 2029.

The Belanjawanku guide, developed by EPF and the Social Wellbeing Research Centre, covers the minimum monthly budget required for a decent living standard in 11 major Malaysian cities.
