Former Singapore transport minister S Iswaran, sentenced to 12 months in prison, began his jail term on October 7. The Singapore Prison Service (SPS) housed him in a single-man cell due to safety and security concerns. The 6.9 sq m cell includes a toilet, straw mat, and two blankets for sleeping. Like other inmates, Iswaran underwent safety, security, and medical assessments upon arrival. SPS ensures equal treatment for all inmates, providing basic necessities and allowing up to two visits and four e-letters monthly. Inmates are housed based on safety, security, and medical assessments.
