Spirit Halloween shooting under investigation

In a statement posted on Facebook on Saturday (Oct 31), the Fairfield Police Department said the shooting “stemmed from a targeted incident involving one suspect”.

No arrests had been made. Police said detectives were interviewing witnesses and reviewing video and other evidence to identify the person responsible. The FBI’s Sacramento office said it was assisting Fairfield police.

Police did not release details of the victims or a description of the suspect, and said no further information would be made public for now. The scene remained an active crime scene.

Mall stays open, cancels event

Solano Town Center, which has 130 stores and restaurants, stayed open on Saturday but called off a trick-or-treating event it had planned for later that day, the AP reported.

The mall thanked shoppers for their patience in a statement. Fairfield lies about 60km south-west of Sacramento, according to the report.
