According to Hasbullah, the complainant was inside his house when he heard what sounded like gunshots. At about 9am, he found four bullet marks on the right-side door of his vehicle.

Closed-circuit television footage from the scene showed two unidentified suspects arriving on a motorcycle and approaching the car. “One of the suspects then fired shots at the vehicle before fleeing,” Hasbullah was quoted as saying.

An investigation paper has been opened under Section 39 of the Arms Act 1960, and efforts to track down the suspects are ongoing. The complainant was not named.

Trio held over Hilux theft

In a separate case, Hasbullah said Manjung police arrested a man and two women, aged between 24 and 26, over the alleged theft of a Toyota Hilux belonging to a man in Taman Mas 2, Sitiawan.

The three were picked up at about 5.30pm on Tuesday (Oct 27). Police also seized a car key reader device believed to have been used in the thefts, along with several other items.

The suspects have been remanded for six days, from Oct 28 to Nov 2, for investigations under Section 379A of the Penal Code. Police said they admitted to involvement in eight vehicle theft cases, four in Perak and four in Kuala Lumpur, all targeting four-wheel-drive vehicles using the same method.

Public urged to come forward

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact the Manjung district police headquarters operations room at 05-688 6222, the WhatsApp hotline at 017-682 8005, or any nearby police station.
