Between January and April 15, 2025, the MCMC removed over 40,000 pieces of fake and scam content online, highlighting the urgent need for digital literacy. Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching stressed that Malaysians must learn to verify online information.

She announced the expansion of the Safe Internet Campaign to schools and universities, aiming to educate youth on digital risks. Speaking at the “Let’s Read Together” programme, Teo emphasised reading as essential for building critical thinking, empathy, and national identity.

She praised BERNAMA’s digital library efforts and urged citizens to combat misinformation by cultivating a reading culture and informed thinking.
