Kota Kinabalu, June 22, 2025 – Student activist group Suara Mahasiswa UMS ended their “Gempur Rasuah Sabah 2.0” rally today by burning a caricature of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, protesting his administration’s failure to address corruption in Sabah. Over 100 students gathered from 1pm yesterday to 11am today, unveiling a banner labeling Anwar as “Madani Pelindung Rasuah Sabah.” Spokesperson Fadhil Kasim criticized the government’s unfulfilled reform promises. The rally demanded legal action against the Sabah Water Department and MACC autonomy. Despite a nearby pro-government rally, the event remained peaceful under police watch, with protesters cleaning up afterward.
