Former United Malays National Organisation Supreme Council member Isham Jalil has reiterated that he will not return to the party as long as it continues cooperating with Democratic Action Party within the current government. In a social media post responding to questions from journalists, Isham said he had made his position clear multiple times, stating he would not join what he referred to as “UMDAP” while the alliance remains.
Isham Jalil Says He Won’t Rejoin UMNO While Party Works With DAP
Isham Jalil also commented on discussions surrounding efforts by Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to allow previously expelled or suspended members to return to United Malays National Organisation and its headquarters, Rumah Bangsa. He argued that Malay-based parties would be reluctant to join the coalition government if UMNO continues supporting DAP.
In his statement, Isham suggested that if Ahmad Zahid Hamidi genuinely wanted former members to return, he should personally meet those who had been expelled or suspended and apologise before inviting them back. However, Isham emphasised that he does not expect such an invitation and maintained that his stance remains unchanged.
