The federal government has announced that several flood mitigation projects in Johor and Pahang will be fast-tracked following recent monsoon-related disruptions. The projects aim to reduce long-term flood risks in high-impact districts.
Flood mitigation efforts
The Works Ministry said allocations will focus on drainage upgrades, river deepening and improved early-warning systems, with priority given to areas affected repeatedly over the past three years. State governments welcomed the move, saying faster implementation would help protect livelihoods and reduce economic losses during the northeast monsoon season.
