New: Malaysia’s Food Prices Mixed in June as Inflation Slows to 1.1%

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s food prices showed mixed trends in June, with overall food and beverages rising 2.1% year-on-year, DOSM reported. Vegetable prices plunged 7.2%, easing headline inflation to 1.1%. Milk and dairy products fell 1.8%, while cereals, meat, and fish saw softer prices. Food consumed at home dipped 0.4%, but commercially prepared meals rose 4.7%. Oils and fats increased 1.7%, while fruits and nuts slipped 0.1%. Core inflation remained at 1.8%. Prices of durable and semi-durable goods mostly declined. Out of 573 items tracked, over half saw no price changes. Urban and rural inflation remained subdued, reflecting broad price stability.
