New: Four Steps Taken by the Madani Government to Tackle Rice Crisis

The issue of rice on the market went viral with many complaining they are not getting cheaper rice options while imported rice price hiked. Nevertheless, it took the government a bit of time, logically, to address the issue.

Here are the four steps taken:

1. Local White Rice Distribution (BPT) comprehensively expanded
2. The government bears (contains) the price of Imported White Rice (BPI) in Sabah & Sarawak (selling price RM31 per 10kg)
3. The Government premises switched from BPT to BPI (RM400 million subsidy), enabling more BPT supply for the people. BPT is local white rice or beras putih tempatan.
4. Launch BPT Op to monitor BPT supply chain across the country
