Govt Offers 70% Summons Discount to Clear RM6.6 Billion Backlog

The Malaysian government will offer up to 70% discounts on unpaid traffic summonses from November 1 to December 30, 2025, in a bid to reduce the RM6.6 billion backlog. Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution and Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced the initiative as a transitional measure ahead of a new standardised payment system launching January 1, 2026. 

Govt Offers 70% Off Traffic Summons 

Under the new model, early payments will receive higher discounts, while late payments may face full charges and legal action. From 2022 to 2025, PDRM collected RM640 million through discount schemes, but the Cabinet now seeks a more sustainable, enforcement-driven approach.
