PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang claimed UMNO’s electoral strength has plummeted since splitting with PAS, citing a sharp decline in Malay votes during GE15. He urged UMNO to ally with PAS, not Pakatan Harapan (PH), to bolster Islamic influence with a new government. He also notes PAS’s gains in Malay support while UMNO aligns with PH, which secured non-Muslim votes. Speaking ahead of the Ayer Kuning by-election, Hadi emphasized the need for a credible candidate to tackle political challenges. He asserted that as a Muslim-majority nation, Malaysia should be led by Malays, predominantly Muslims, while respecting non-Muslims’ rights to participate in governance.
