Hermès CEO Axel Dumas revealed he resisted repeated attempts by Jeffrey Epstein to meet with him, describing the disgraced financier as a “financial predator.” U.S. Department of Justice documents show Epstein emailed Dumas’ assistant multiple times in 2013 and 2014, even requesting Hermès design his private jet.

Dumas said he only encountered Epstein once at an Hermès event in 2013, where Epstein appeared uninvited. He refused all subsequent meeting requests, noting Epstein already had a “loathsome reputation.” DOJ files also show Epstein was a frequent Hermès customer. Epstein was later convicted in 2008 and arrested again in 2019 before his death.
