Amid the threat of a strike by contract doctors in Malaysia, government hospitals were reported to operate as usual on April 3, including Kuala Lumpur Hospital and Shah Alam, with waiting times being the same as before.

However, the strike organisers, the Malaysia Doctors’ Strike, had expected that at least 10,000 to 12,000 contract doctors would participate in the strike, which was scheduled to continue until April 5. The group is pushing for permanent positions, basic salary increases, higher on-call rates, and a solution to the manpower shortage issue.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Medical Association stated that no strike had taken place in any government healthcare facility across the country. However, it urged the government and authorities to address the public’s fears and guarantee that all public healthcare services would be provided without any disruption.
