NEW: PN or BN dilemma for Indian voters in Ayer Kuning

1 min read

In Ayer Kuning’s by-election, MIC faces a dilemma despite not contesting. The seat, part of MIC deputy president Datuk M Saravanan’s Tapah constituency, puts pressure on MIC to secure the 14% Indian vote for UMNO and the Madani government to prove its worth. Failure risks further marginalization. Indian support plummeted from 83% in 2013 to 42% in 2018, reflecting nationwide discontent with the administration. Both BN and PN fielding ustads may alienate Indian and 22% Chinese voters. With 56% Malay and 8% Orang Asli voters, the Indian bloc remains pivotal, potentially echoing 2018’s shift.
