And some politicians in Indonesia once said it’s only a bit of smoke…Well, Indonesia is among six countries significantly contributing to global air pollution, according to the Air Quality Life Index (AQLI). Alongside China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nigeria, Jakarta shares 75% of the world’s air pollution burden due to high pollution levels and large populations.

AQLI’s research reveals citizens in these countries may lose one to over six years of life due to air quality. However, the country’s Ministry of Health spokesperson (in denial), Siti Nadia Tarmizi, called for further expert examination to verify the study’s findings and cautioned against accepting them as mere assumptions.
