Singapore Sets Up Crisis Committee to Tackle Global Energy Shock

SINGAPORE — Prime Minister Lawrence Wong announced the formation of the Homefront Crisis Ministerial Committee to coordinate Singapore’s response to the global energy crisis. Chaired by Coordinating Minister for National Security K Shanmugam, with Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong as adviser, the committee is updating contingency plans and strengthening supply chain resilience.

Energy Shock

Wong said measures under Budget 2026 will be enhanced and brought forward, including additional U-Save rebates to ease household electricity costs and targeted support for affected sectors. He urged Singaporeans to conserve energy, act responsibly, and stand united as conflicts in West Asia fuel uncertainty.
