KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 — DAP Youth has condemned Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh’s plan to visit a Penang hardware store owner involved in an upside-down Jalur Gemilang incident, calling it intimidation and “mob justice.” Its chief, Woo Kah Leong, urged Akmal to let authorities handle the matter and promote patriotism through education, not threats.
Akmal has since cancelled his trip to Penang.
Woo accused Akmal of hypocrisy for not reacting similarly to past flag errors involving the Education Ministry and Terengganu PAS. He said leaders should unite Malaysians, not create tension. Akmal had invited supporters to join him in “teaching” the owner how to correctly display the flag.
