Japanese atomic bomb survivors have condemned US President Donald Trump’s directive to restart nuclear weapons testing, calling it “utterly unacceptable.”
The Nobel Peace Prize-winning group Nihon Hidankyo sent a protest letter to the US embassy in Tokyo, warning the move contradicts global peace efforts.

Nagasaki Mayor Shiro Suzuki said the decision tramples on decades of anti-nuclear activism. Two Hiroshima survivor groups also issued joint statements opposing the plan, stressing that “in a nuclear war, all of humanity becomes the loser.” The United States has not conducted nuclear test explosions since 1992.
