JOHOR BARU – Families in Johor are embracing the newly implemented Saturday-Sunday weekend holiday by visiting local attractions such as the Johor Zoo. The shift, effective January 1, allows families to align schedules more easily. Nurul Nadira Ismail, a teacher, expressed joy over the change, saying it resolved scheduling conflicts with her husband, who previously had a different weekend. Similarly, private sector worker Daniel Nanang praised the move, noting it improved work-life balance and strengthened family bonds. The change, announced by the Regent of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, was made to better accommodate modern family and societal needs.
