Italian fashion legend Valentino Garavani, simply known as Valentino, has died at the age of 93. The co-founder of the Valentino fashion house in 1960 passed away peacefully at his home in Rome, surrounded by family, according to a statement from the Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti Foundation.

Renowned for opulent designs, signature “Valentino red” and glamorous eveningwear, his creations adorned stars including Elizabeth Taylor, Jacqueline Kennedy, Julia Roberts, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Nicole Kidman. He studied in Paris, worked with Balenciaga and others, and rose to global fame with his iconic fiesta dress.Valentino will lie in state at Piazza Mignanelli on 21-22 January, with his funeral at the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels and Martyrs the following day.
