Liverpool won 3-1 at Crystal Palace on Sunday (Nov 8), ending a run of back-to-back defeats, in a round of Premier League results that also saw Sunderland beat Chelsea 1-0 and Brighton move up to second.

Liverpool return to winning ways at Selhurst Park

Alexis Mac Allister opened the scoring in the first half, heading in a free-kick from Dominik Szoboszlai, according to the club’s match report and Dave Sport.

Florian Wirtz doubled the lead in the 54th minute with a first-time finish after Bradley Barcola broke down the right and delivered the ball into the box.

Alexander Isak made it 3-1 in the 89th minute at the end of a quick counter-attack. Eddie Nketiah pulled one back for Palace from the penalty spot deep in stoppage time.

Liverpool had gone into the weekend after losing two games in a row for the first time under Andoni Iraola, the club said. The win left them on 18 points from 10 matches, three behind third-placed Manchester City and four behind Brighton. Dave Sport reported that Liverpool moved into fourth and Palace dropped to the bottom of the table.

Le Fee penalty lifts Sunderland off the bottom

At the Stadium of Light, Enzo Le Fee scored the only goal from the spot in the 36th minute, the Evening Standard reported. The penalty was awarded after Levi Colwill brought down Brian Brobbey in the area.

Chelsea had a penalty appeal for Cole Palmer checked by VAR and turned down.

The result was Sunderland’s first league win since August and lifted Regis Le Bris’s side off the foot of the table, although they remain in the relegation zone. Chelsea, who had beaten Manchester United the previous weekend, dropped out of the top four after a fourth league defeat of the season, according to the Standard.

Brighton go second in Premier League results

Brighton beat 10-man Brentford 2-0 at the Amex Stadium. Diego Gomez struck from long range into the top corner in the 15th minute, Brentford’s official report said.

Igor Thiago was shown a red card in the 23rd minute when referee Michael Oliver upgraded a yellow after reviewing a tussle with Chema Andres at the pitchside monitor. Pascal Gross added a penalty in the 40th minute after Lewis-Potter pulled down Luka Vuskovic.

Sky Sports reported that the win took Brighton up to second, going into the November international break five points behind leaders Arsenal.
