Serie A leaders Lazio were held to a 1-1 draw by Napoli in Naples on Sunday (Nov 8), The Associated Press reported, a day after Fulham and Newcastle United also finished 1-1 in the Premier League.

The early Sunday results came as the weekend’s remaining Premier League fixtures, including Manchester United against Aston Villa, were still to be completed.

Serie A leaders Lazio held in Naples

Davide Frattesi gave Lazio the lead in the 28th minute after Tijjani Noslin played him through on the left, according to AP.

Napoli levelled after the break through an own goal. Spanish defender Alfonso Pedraza turned the ball into his own net as he tried to stop Scott McTominay and Rasmus Højlund from converting a cross from Noa Lang.

AP said the draw kept Lazio at the top of the Serie A table, with Lazio and Roma both still unbeaten this season.

For Napoli, the agency noted, the result extended a poor run. The Naples side have managed just four wins and three draws from 11 league games, and came into the match after a 4-1 defeat at Porto in the Champions League on Wednesday and a 2-0 loss at Juventus the previous weekend.

Late goals share points at Craven Cottage

At Craven Cottage on Saturday (Nov 7), both goals in the Fulham-Newcastle match came in the final 10 minutes, ESPN and Sky Sports reported.

Jacob Murphy put Newcastle ahead in the 80th minute, pouncing on a loose pass from Sander Berge and firing a left-foot shot into the top corner.

Fulham hit back three minutes later when Rodrigo Muniz finished a cross from the left by Cesar Palacios.

Newcastle had earlier seen a first-half header from Dan Burn ruled out after Yoane Wissa was penalised for pulling the shirt of Timothy Castagne, according to Sky Sports.

ESPN figures showed Fulham had 58 per cent of possession, while each side managed five shots on target. Its standings listed Newcastle on 12 points and Fulham on 10 after 10 matches each.

Ninth-minute tributes in Spain

Matches across Spain this weekend paused in the ninth minute to honour Tenerife forward Jesús de Miguel, who wore the No. 9 shirt, AP reported. The player died after a collision during a second-division game on Monday.

In La Liga, referee César Soto Grado stopped the match between Real Betis and Elche in the ninth minute for the tribute.
