SHAH ALAM, June 14 — Transport Minister Anthony Loke expressed no objections to transferring tour bus oversight back to the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac), a proposal raised two years ago by Motac Minister Tiong King Sing. Speaking after visiting Scania Malaysia, Loke supported the move, provided the Cabinet approves and Road Transport Department (JPJ) enforcement officers remain unaffected due to staffing constraints. The issue gained urgency after a June 5 bus crash killed 15 UPSI students, highlighting regulatory gaps. Loke emphasized shared responsibility, noting his ministry’s heavy burden and welcoming Motac’s involvement to enhance safety.
