The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) plans to call more individuals, locally and internationally, to provide statements related to the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) construction investigation. MACC Chief Commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki, assured no party would be protected during the investigation, with witnesses from various countries being called in.
Crackdown on corrupt individuals
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized the importance of continuing the LCS investigation, aiming to prove the cause of the massive loss of funds. He stated the initial prosecution was insufficient, not targeting prominent individuals allegedly involved in the LCS procurement issue.
The MACC is ready to investigate political party leaders if there are complaints and evidence of corrupt practices, needing complaints but also considering any received information.
