A driving instructor in Jitra, Kedah, learned the hard way that road safety rules apply to everyone. On March 16, Road Transport Department (JPJ) officers spotted a driving school vehicle on the North–South Expressway with a learner behind the wheel.
Driving Instructor Fined by JPJ
While the student was driving properly, the instructor in the passenger seat was not wearing a seatbelt. The vehicle was stopped, and a summons was issued immediately.
JPJ reminded the public that failing to wear a seatbelt is a traffic offence, punishable by fines up to RM2,000 or six months’ jail. Instructors are expected to model safe habits at all times.
