Anwar Reveals MAHB Cyberattack, Rejects USD10M Ransom Demand

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim disclosed that Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) faced a cyberattack demanding a USD10 million ransom. The government refused to comply, emphasizing the need to bolster cybersecurity with increased funding for agencies like PDRM and Bank Negara Malaysia.

Speaking at the Police Day celebration, Anwar urged enforcement agencies to adopt a firm stance against corruption and governance issues, predicting significant improvements in Malaysia’s political climate.

While details of the attack remain scarce, Anwar stressed the importance of resilience against criminal threats. Key officials, including Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, attended the event.
