The wipeout of the PKR in the state assembly by-election in Malaca will hurt the reformasi movement and tarnish the reputation of national reform leader Anwar Ibrahim.

But this is not the end of the fight for reforms in Malaysia nor the defeat of the PKR’s fight against corruption.

However, it is a massive lesson for the leadership of the party after it dirtied its name in talks with Umno and it failed to take quick action to prevent a massive defection in 2020 following the Sheraton move by PKR former strong man Azmin Ali.
