The Malaysian silambam team triumphed at the Asian Open Silambam Championship in Qatar, securing 12 gold medals to emerge as overall champions. Led by six outstanding national exponents, they showcased exceptional skills in “thanithiramai” (artistic staff spinning) and “poruthal” (combat) categories. Gold medalists included Prakash, Shastivena, Leenasree, Kavithira, Darnisha, and Ranishaa across various weight and age categories. Malaysia Silambam Association president Dr. M. Suraess expressed pride in their historic win. Hosts Qatar and the UAE placed second and third. The closing ceremony, officiated by Malaysian ambassador Mohammad Faizal Razali, capped the team’s remarkable achievement at the Doha Sports Complex.
