The Royal Malaysian Customs Department (Customs) thwarted two smuggling operations, seizing tobacco products, rice, grains, and ecstasy pills worth over RM3 million. In November, Customs inspected three containers at Port Klang, discovering 7,303 kg of tobacco products and 7,580 kg of basmati rice and grains, falsely declared as ‘Assorted Food Beverage’.

Three shipping agents are being investigated. In July, a raid at Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s Mail and Courier Centre uncovered 0.43 kg of ecstasy pills. The case is under investigation. The department will enhance inspections using sniffer dogs to combat drug trafficking.
