Singapore’s Central Narcotics Bureau confirmed the execution of Malaysian Lingkesvaran Rajendaren, 33, on February 11. Convicted in 2018 for trafficking 52.77 grams of diamorphine, he was sentenced to death and his appeal was dismissed in 2019. Lingkesvaran pursued eight post-appeal applications, all unsuccessful, and his petitions for presidential clemency were rejected.

On February 9, his counsel filed a civil suit alleging misconduct by prison officers and sought a stay of execution, but the Court of Appeal dismissed the application. Authorities stated Lingkesvaran was accorded full due process and represented by legal counsel throughout his trial and appeals.
