Malaysian Threads User Says Parents Must Be Flexible but Respect Teachers’ Authority

A Malaysian Threads post by user @ftn.cuna has sparked discussion about parenting, student discipline and the challenges teachers face in managing children. The user argued that parents need to be flexible and recognise that not every disciplinary issue means a teacher is mistreating a child. They also stressed that teachers have mental health needs and should not be subjected to constant pressure from parents who distrust schools or question every decision.

Online Debate Highlights Tension Between Parental Concerns and Teachers’ Well-Being

In the replies, one commenter agreed that parents sometimes blame teachers for unexpected incidents or minor matters, even questioning their classroom management. The original poster responded that teachers should be held accountable when they are wrong, adding that they personally would take action in such cases. However, they noted that each situation is different and the cause of a problem may not always be clear.

Another commenter shared concerns that some parents may not realise their children behave differently at school, including acting aggressively or disrespectfully towards teachers. The discussion also acknowledged that some parents are understanding, while others may be overly protective or quick to criticise educators.

The exchange reflects an ongoing debate about how to protect children while allowing teachers to maintain a safe, respectful learning environment. Commenters emphasised the importance of communication, fair investigations and trust between families and schools, rather than immediately assigning blame.

A Malaysian Threads discussion urges parents to balance protecting their children with trusting teachers and safeguarding educators’ mental well-being.
