Dad Works From Home for 6 Years, Son Lists His Job as “None”

Working from home can lead to some very funny misunderstandings, especially when you have young kids watching your every move.

Malaysian father @nibaihaqilahh went viral on Threads after checking his 7-year-old son’s school biodata book. He has worked remotely for six years, and he joked that his child had now officially labelled him jobless.

“Mum’s a Teacher, Dad’s Unemployed”: 7-Year-Old’s School Form Goes Viral

The boy, Naoq, had neatly filled in his parents’ details in pencil. For his mother’s occupation, he wrote “Guru” (Teacher). For his father’s, he wrote “tiada”, meaning none.

The dad told World of Buzz that he and his wife were stunned when they found the entry, then burst out laughing together.

He explained that Naoq had often asked his mother why other fathers leave for work while his own stays home. She had explained it before, but it seemed the message hadn’t quite sunk in.

In reality, the father is a Data Consultant who has worked remotely for the past six years. After the couple talked it over with their son, Naoq happily agreed to fix the form. His new answer for his dad’s job: “work from home.”
