The Dewan Rakyat is set to focus on two main issues today: the supply of foreign labour to Malaysia and the expansion of Malay Reserve Land in the Peninsula. Chow Kon Yeow, the MP for Batu Kawan, raised the issue during the Question-and-Answer session.
Foreign labour in Malaysia
The MP asked the Minister of Human Resources for updates on ongoing and completed negotiations with potential countries to supply labour to Malaysia. Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal also asked the Minister of Human Resources whether the government plans to formulate a policy to address the labour shortage issue and prevent an influx of foreign workers.
Malay reserved land
Other questions raised include the expansion rate of Malay Reserve Land, steps taken by the government to address the decreasing expansion issue, and the latest status of Malaysia’s goal to become ‘Carbon Neutral’ by 2050. Finally, the Sexual Offences against Children (Amendment) 2023 Bill is expected to be presented for its second reading after the session.
