Its a no-brainer and no surprise at all that Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr, the son of former Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, has won the country’s presidential election by a landslide.
According to the Inquirer, an unofficial tally showed that Marcos Jr had nearly 30 million votes as of early Tuesday morning, accounting for 96% of all eligible ballots counted and his vote tally is double that of his closest opponent, Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo.
Official results are expected at the end of the month but his victory marks the return of the Marcos family to power after 36 years. He is the first candidate in recent time to win with a straight majority.
