MAYA urges Libress to remove V campaign

Dr Safinar Salleh Chairperson YADIM Muslim Women’s Council (MAYA) urges Libresse Malaysia to remove its V campaign from all channels in Malaysia.

The association says the company is misusing the image of women’s private part in a design being widely advertised in Malaysia. The design is for sanitary products and the group says it is a dishonour to women for the company to promote it as a motif in the packaging.

“Your V campaign is also considered as an exploitation of women’s bodies in advertising. This promotion clearly undermines the dignity of women and violates the norms of decency in our Malaysian society. Displaying the vulva motif openly on clothing, packages, bags, origami and other items, is not acceptable in our culture nor allowable according to our religious values.”
