PETALING JAYA, Sept 23 — MIC national strategic officer Thinalan T Rajagopalu has accused DAP of hypocrisy for criticising MIC’s openness to working with PAS. He said Malaysian political history shows that DAP had previously collaborated with PAS, including in forming the Perak state government in 2008 and working together to take over Selangor.
Accuses DAP
Thinalan questioned why DAP was absolved of criticism while MIC faces scrutiny for similar political engagements. He added that cooperation among parties is common in Malaysia, citing Umno’s past meetings with PAS and MIC’s involvement in the former Perikatan Nasional government. Thinalan stressed MIC’s autonomy in deciding its political direction and dismissed allegations that engagement with PAS would erode Indian community support.
