There have been discussions with regards to the taxation structure in this country. However, a prominent X user says that GST did not fail in Malaysia in lieu of the mechanics of it, but rather, the fact that Malaysians lack the cash funds to support such a taxation system.

Additionally, many felt that during the current government’s time in opposition, they were dead set against more taxes to the people. Oddly today, we have an increased SST, and other taxes added in lieu of the funds needed for the government.
Others are blaming VAT, a sister to our previous Goods and Services Tax, as ruining European businesses. Small businesses can’t compete with taxes set on them as it would be difficult for them to grow.
