PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin clarified his “Malay first” stance, stating it remains unchanged despite recent comments emphasizing a “Malaysian first” identity. Speaking at the “Podcast Ramai Yang Sindir” event, he explained that his 2010 remark, made as deputy prime minister, did not negate his Malaysian identity. Muhyiddin, addressing past criticism from DAP’s Lim Kit Siang, stressed his role as a leader for all Malaysians. He also announced plans to reintroduce the goods and services tax (GST) if he becomes prime minister, criticizing the current sales and services tax expansion as burdensome.
