Datuk Seri Najib Razak testified in the High Court that public officers could accept gifts without compromising integrity. This arose during cross-examination about millions allegedly remitted into his accounts by Saudi royalty between 2011 and 2014. Prosecutor Kamal Baharin Omar cited ethics rules barring gifts that undermine integrity, questioning the appropriateness of Najib receiving such funds from Saudi King Abdullah. Najib maintained that receiving such gifts did not breach ethical guidelines for public officers.
