One of the strangest oddities in Malaysia is that a convicted criminal, regardless of being the former Prime Minister, is still allowed to remain in his position as an MP. It was announced that Najib Razak recently has sought out for a Royal pardon, and if the pardon is denied then he’ll lose his seat in parliament.
According to the local news, Najib is risking his status as an MP if the pardon is declined, however another news site claims that he will lose his seat tomorrow. Netizens are unhappy that after receiving a jail sentence, Najib still has his seat in parliament.
‘Malaysia boleh’ says another netizen as our jailbird former Prime Minister still retains his parliamentary seat. Netizens are also questioning whether he is getting paid or not, if so it will be gravely unfair as he would not be doing any work behind bars.
