1 min read

KUALA LUMPUR: Controversial rapper and director Namewee (Wee Meng Chee), 42, turned himself in at Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah (IPD) Dang Wangi late last night to aid the probe into the death of 31-year-old Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yu-hsin, alias Iris Hsieh. The social media star was discovered lifeless in a bathtub at a luxury hotel on Jalan Conlay on October 22, initially ruled as sudden death but reclassified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code following post-mortem findings.

Namewee Surrenders

Namewee, who arrived from Johor Bahru, posted on Facebook affirming full cooperation: “I won’t flee; I’ve voluntarily appeared for all seven prior summonses.” Police confirmed he was the last seen with the victim at 1:40pm that day. Amid swirling rumors, he’s also facing separate drug possession charges for 5.12g of ecstasy and consumption of amphetamines, methamphetamine, THC, and ketamine—allegedly at the hotel and station toilet.
