NEC Corporation expands role in modernising outdated systems for government

NEC Corporation of Malaysia Sdn Bhd reports growing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) by local agencies and companies as part of their digital transformation.

Managing Director Wataru Irie highlighted NEC’s role in modernizing outdated systems for government, telecommunications, and retail sectors, emphasizing safe system migration.

Modernising outdated systems

“We also work with them to modernise the infrastructure, as some systems are quite outdated. But this takes time, as it requires safe and stable migration from the existing systems to new ones,” says Wataru Irie.

General Manager Chan Chern Pong noted challenges in meeting unique enterprise needs but underscored NEC’s 60-year ASEAN presence and global expertise as key advantages. NEC’s extensive database supports robust technical and commercial proposals, reinforcing its leadership in smart connectivity, cybersecurity, and other innovative solutions.

“We can leverage resources within the region or globally, tapping into their knowledge on how they have integrated similar platforms in their projects,” says Chan Chern Pong.
