Netizens Now ANGRY at “Dijel” Being Used in Place of “Dipenjarakan”

The westernization of our national language is already here. The argument of the usage of English words in Bahasa Malaysia has been a topic of discussion as of late. This is in lieu of the UTC staff withholding the right for an elderly Malaysian to renew their passport simply due to them not speaking Malay. 

Netizens angry at “dijel” being used instead of “dipenjarakan” 

It appears that the “kamus dewan” has approved the word “jel” to be used for jail. Malaysians find this word to be an anglified word in the Malay language. Some are sharing concerns that the standards of our language are possibly dropping faster than ever. 

Next, some users add that hair gel is also called “jel” in Malay. They claim that this will add to further confusion among people who are speaking the language, and to those learning it as well.
