A viral X post is discussing the fact that some are frivolous enough to spend thousands of Ringgit on a new iPhone on launch day, but are vehemently upset when the government is cutting back on some subsidies. Netizens find this whole mindset to be rather ironic.

Following that, some users claim that those constantly changing their smartphones are not as wealthy as they seem. They add that this is due to services like the 0% monthly interest credit card instalments. But, despite this, they are still making payments for their new expensive devices. 

Others joked that in our country, there are not that many people who are not financially well off. They state that there are plenty who pretend to be less fortunate than they are. However, this is just an opinion from a social media user.
