New: Najib’s Solidarity Fund Hits RM9.25 Million, Still Short of Target

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27, 2026 – The Solidarity Fund for Najib Razak has collected RM9.25 million as of 10am today, according to Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, but remains far from the RM50 million required for the former prime minister to qualify for house arrest.

Speaking after officiating the 18th Annual General Meeting of Parti Makkal Sakti at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, Zahid said the initiative launched on Sept 18 was aimed at easing Najib’s burden. “Efforts are ongoing to reach the RM50 million target, and we hope our friends and supporters will continue to help,” he said.

Solidarity Fund

Zahid stressed that contributions are voluntary and will be managed transparently in line with existing laws. The RM50 million fine is a condition set under Najib’s conditional pardon, approved by Yang di‑Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim, which allows him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028.

Najib, the former Pekan MP, has been imprisoned since Aug 23, 2022, after being convicted of seven charges involving criminal breach of trust, abuse of power, and money laundering linked to RM42 million from SRC International. He remains in Kajang Prison as his accounts are frozen and he cannot pay the fine.
